What is a Folk High School?

Well to say it in plain words: A Danish Folk High School is a very unique concept, which has not counterpart anywhere in the world. It is an amazing opportunity to come to a Folk High School in Denmark and develope your skills and yourself.  For many of our students a stay at IHÅ is the best time of their life!

The Danish Folk High Schools offer non-formal adult education. Most students are between 18 and 24 years old ( it is required that you are at least 17 years and 6 month old at the beginning of the course) and the length of a typical stay is about 4 months. You sleep, eat, study, and spend your spare time at the school. There are no academic requirements for admittance, and there are no exams - but you will get a diploma as proof of your attendance.
Teaching in the Folk High School is characterized by professionalism and dedication. Classes are based on dialogue and mutual learning between teachers and students. The main focus is to discover and strengthen the unique skills of each student in a challenging, yet supportive social atmosphere.
